The ingredients needed to prepare Banitsa:
  1. Get 1 pack phyllo/filo dough
  2. You need 3 eggs
  3. Get 300-400 ml milk
  4. Prepare 100 g white cheese
  5. Use little bit of oil or melted butter
Steps to make Banitsa:
  1. Prepare the ingredients and turn the oven on before you cook so it has a time to heat up.
  2. I like to put a bit oil on the tray so the sheets don't stick to the surface. Put on three sheets on, I put oil in between, you may want to smear some melted butter. Crush some cheese over. Put two more sheets.
  3. Continue like this: two sheets phyllo dough, cheese. On the end I like to leave at least two sheets but don't oil them cause they tent to harden when the banitsa is baked.
  4. In a bowl, beat the eggs and add the milk.
  5. Cover the sheets with the mix.
  6. I like to poke with the fork to make sure the inside is gonna be moist and baked well. Make sure the sheets are well covered.
  7. Put in the oven aaaaand now we wait
  8. 25-30 mins later
  9. I took it out and sprinkled some water over to soften it
  10. I also sprinkled some sugar to make it a bit sweeter
  11. I put kitchen paper and a towel over to soften it even more. Let it sit like this until it cools down enough to be ready to be eaten.
  12. When I got hungry, I cut it and paired it with plain yogurt. The taste of my childhood!
