  1. To prepare the stuffing: First soak the gram dal for 3 hours. Pressure cook the dal for 5-6 whistles till it becomes mushy. Cook till the remaining water evaporates. Then add grated coconut, jaggery, ghee and cardamom powder and mix gently in low flame to get a thick consistency. Once cooled, make small balls from the mixture
  2. To prepare the batter: Take the all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, sugar and add water to form a batter. Dip the balls in the batter.
  3. Pour oil in a kadai, heat the oil to a moderately high temperature and fry the balls in the hot oil. Susiyam is ready.
