  2. Take 1 large green pepper, chopped
  3. Take 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  4. Prepare 40 oz can of Brooks mild chili beans
  5. Prepare 22 oz can of Brooks hot chili beans
  6. Provide 14 1/2 oz can of Stewed tomatoes (with celery, peppers, & cumin OR with mexican spices)
  7. Prepare 1 packages Brooks mild chili seasoning
  8. Use 1 garlic salt
  9. Get 1 onion powder
  10. Provide 1 black pepper
  11. Use pinch ground red pepper
  12. Use pinch ground cayenne pepper
  13. Take 1/2 tsp chili powder
  14. Provide 3 tbsp sugar
Steps to make Award Winning Chili:
  1. In Dutch oven, brown ground beef and season with garlic salt, onion powder, & pepper
  2. Drain grease and put beef back in Dutch oven.
  3. In a medium size bowl, add stewed tomatoes (cut up in small pieces). Then add chopped green pepper and chopped onion. Mix together.
  4. Pour the stewed tomatoes/onion/green pepper in Dutch oven with the ground beef.
  5. Add the package of Brooks Mild chili seasoning and mix together.
  6. Before adding both cans of Brooks chili beans, dump out some of the sauce but not all.
  7. Season again with garlic salt, onion powder, and pepper. Then add the chili powder, ground red pepper, ground cayenne pepper, and sugar.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Bring to a boil and let simmer on low for 3 hours.
